Love should be reciprocated. It should be returned upon arrival. Shared, rather. The reality of the situation is: Some people only love what you can do for them. Some people only love what they can get from you. This use can range from conversation to things of monetary value to sexual intimacy. Truthfully, who is going to turn down these things if they can freely have them? No one.
Love is not limited. Love is boundless. Love is selfless. Most importantly, love shouldn’t hurt. Guard your heart and manage your time. These two things go hand in hand, as you need to be able to give both to someone who truly loves you. Don’t risk your good mind, body, and soul on the wrong person.
If you take nothing else from this, remember no one is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes, but know when to let go. Your heart shouldn’t break every other day from someone who loves you. The person who loves you won’t lie to you. The person who loves you won’t cheat on you. The person who loves you won’t use you. The person who loves you will defend you. The person who loves you will pray for and with you.
We live in a less than perfect world so we are bound to fall short at some point in our lives, but mistakes generally aren’t repeated. Don’t allow anyone to stomp all over your heart just to throw an “I’m sorry” on the end. In my opinion, sorry is a person not a thing.
Until next time…
